Isaac's Letter to Abraham
Let's hear what Isaac would have said about being sacrificed...
Have you ever noticed that the story of Abraham is one-sided? Have you ever considered what or how Isaac would have felt? Have you noticed that the attempted murder is always referred to as a sacrifice? How many times have we tried to justify the story with the various types of interpretations? Perhaps it was created to be so heinous to provide us with a lesson about how obedience, even to something as seemingly good as a God, is not always good…
To Abraham,
I cannot call you my Dad because a father would never do what you just tried to do. It took me a lot of time to forgive you for what you did, but I do forgive you. I write to you in an attempt to bring you back to the light. What you did was not normal. It was a heinous crime and you failed the temptation that God gave you.
On the day when you heard the voice of God speaking to you, you said that God stopped you from committing the deed because he was satisfied that you truly feared him: This is why you failed the test. You fell so far down the rabbit hole that you no longer care about what is right and what is wrong because you only care to survive. This is what happens when you sell your life away to someone else to look after you and forsake your duty to seek knowledge and wisdom to look after yourself. If we were all to do this the human species would be reduced to the likes of the animal kingdom, where it is simply a “dog eat dog” situation, returning to the times when we were uncivilised and barbaric.
“But it is God, the creator of the universe,” you say? “We have to obey what he says for he created us”… So what if he is the creator of the universe? If it were another God, whom others believe is the creator of the universe calling for a man to kill his child, would you justify their behaviour? No. I think not. You would condemn it for what it is – evil!
Think about why you have chosen Yahweh as your God. Is it because he feeds you? If so, then you are biased. You simply have an affinity to call him good because he has taken care of you. Jesus would have been taken care of just like you if he had bowed down to the devil and lived a life of obedience too. Would that make the devil good because he is being taken care of?
Do you simply obey God because you have been told he is good? Well, isn’t it wiser to judge a tree by the fruit it bears? A corrupt tree will produce bad fruit. The truth is that you have been lazy. You have sold your consciousness and allowed others to think for you. First, you followed your Dad, Terah, even unto old age. Then when someone else came along and said that you only had to obey him in order to have all your heart desires, you jumped on board. Have you ever looked back to see what you have created? Have you not noticed the trail of chaos you have left in your wake? You have lied, stolen, raped, banished and killed to obtain your desired outcome. You have acted just like Cain! You have given nothing to the garden, but taken something from it at each and every turn. Is that the example that you want me to take? Rather than think about whether my actions are adding life or death to the world, do you want me to not think at all and live in blind faith like you? Should I continue the generational pattern of sacrificing the next generation to serve myself?
I won’t. I cannot do that because I know how it feels to be taken to slaughter. I know how it felt to have someone who was supposed to love and protect me seek to kill me to save themselves. How would you feel if your father had done exactly that to you?
I had to separate myself from you because I cannot be around people who see me as an object to be used at their disposal. I am my own person. I am Isaac. I have feelings. I have my own destiny ahead of me. You may have contributed to my being here, but I am still an individual – not a slave and not your property. Until you can give love, you will continue to wander the earth alone and without it.
To love others you have to learn to think for yourself. You need to love the truth and not be coerced into what is popular at the time or what you think is the shortcut to success. You need to be willing to do the right thing even if it means saying no to someone or something you thought you could trust wholeheartedly… You need to maintain your independence to say “NO”.
The path to hell is paved with good intentions. If the majority of the people in the world are good people, why is there so much evil? It is because the number one cause of evil is obedience. It is within our nature to obey authority figures. It helped us to survive when we were babies, but we are babies no more. We are adults, endowed with the blessing of a mind to be able to think for ourselves.
I get it. You think that God does not apply to that rule. But have you considered that he wanted you to say no to him? Why do you feel that obedience is the high and narrow road to heaven when it is the easiest and widest? It’s easy to obey. Everyone obeys. But does obedience equate to righteousness?
In the family home, our parents are the head of the house: You were my master. Well, sometimes the master is wrong and needs to be told so. When he isn’t, there is no opportunity for him to be kept accountable and this is what breeds corruption. Jesus was willing to speak up. He said “I have not come to bring peace but a sword. I have come to put a man at variance with his father and a woman at variance with her mother. I have come to separate families.” Here is a man who was willing to disagree with his parent, the government and the Jewish traditions in which he was raised him, if he felt it necessary. He cared for the truth and nothing but the truth. So, just as I reject the actions you took against me, you should have rejected the request your Lord God asked of you.
So far I have given you the benefit of the doubt and blamed your actions on ignorance. I hope that you consider consuming information that goes against your common worldview and what you were told by your parents, high priests and even your culture. I hope that you can humble yourself to listen to those you deem lower than you and become thirsty for the truth even if it means a battle against your ego and preconceptions about what you thought you knew. As is written, unless one becomes like a child, they may not enter the kingdom of heaven.
That being said, there was one more possibility that could have caused you to sacrifice me and that is that you wanted to and you used obedience to God as an excuse to get away with it. I wouldn’t know how to help you there.
Wishing you a resurrection.
Isaac.

For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for
me[love] will find it.
